TRAUMA

Trauma counselling in north western Sydney for men and women

One thing that we can all be assured of is that there will always be times of change in our lives.  Change and adversity, whether it’s expected or a surprise, is challenging for most of us and sometimes we might need a little extra help to navigate the transition.  There are great tools and strategies that can assist us in deciding our next right steps so that we can feel empowered to show up as the best version of ourselves.

LIFE TRANSITIONS

Hoarding counselling in north western Sydney for men and women

Hoarding impacts not only the person who is hoarding but also the people who care about them.  It is a situation that can be stressful and traumatic for all involved, but there are treatment options to assist both the person who is hoarding as well as their family, to work through both the hoarding itself and the root cause of why the hoarding is happening.

HOARDING

Grief and loss counselling in north western Sydney for men and women

Grief and loss shows up in intense thoughts and emotions that can be overwhelming and make it difficult for us to navigate our lives. We also tend to think that grief and loss is tied only to the passing of someone we love. However it may also include grieving the loss of a beloved pet or the loss of a relationship/friendship for example. It can be immensely helpful to be able to connect with a counsellor as you work through this period of your life.

GRIEF & LOSS

Depression counselling in north western Sydney for men and women

Depression is often described as feeling like we are under an immense dark cloud, or like having a massive heavy weight upon us. Along with this often comes intense feelings of hopelessness and despair which can lead us to isolate and be incredibly hard on ourselves. There are effective treatment options available and talk therapy can be a great place to begin.

DEPRESSION

What can we do when thoughts and feelings of anxiety seem to have taken over our lives?  These intense feelings can be overwhelming and quite scary - they can cause us much distress as we attempt navigating specific situations and/or our everyday lives.  There is much research to indicate that talk therapy can be of immense benefit to treat anxiety, and there are effective forms of treatment that offer relief.

ANXIETY

An unplanned pregnancy at any time of our lives can be a huge shock which can cause many different thoughts and emotions to arise.  It can be difficult to know who you can talk to and trust.  Counselling provides a confidential and nonjudgemental space to explore your options, whilst using therapeutic tools and strategies to empower you to be able to make choices that align with your values.

Most of us will experience some level of trauma in our lifetime, and many people are able to recover over time with the love and support of family and friends.  Others of us though, may discover that we have to navigate the lasting effects of trauma which can show up as deep emotional and physical pain long after the event has passed. The assistance of a therapist can be effective with the awareness and healing of trauma.

Im so glad that youre here!  Just even exploring if counselling is right for you and who might be your person takes courage and is a great start.

I find that exploring counselling is rarely a spur of a moment decision and is something that my clients have been thinking about for a while, or they have become aware of an issue recently, or they may have been motivated by a crisis situation.  Usually it involves the need to understand, change and/or cope with themselves, another or a situation.  You may not even be completely sure what it is thats concerning you, you just know that something isnt right for you and you need change in some form.and thats okay, I can help you with this.

I dont profess to know all things but I have certainly experienced many of lifes challenges.  Personally and professionally, I know that without a doubt, we all need a person in our lives who we can connect with, share our stories and to be heard without fear of judgement. This is how we can find meaning within and from our experiences.  We all need to know that we matter and that we are enough.  Knowing this, is a way that can lead to hope and healing.

When my clients sit with me, they know that they are being heard, valued and cared for unconditionally.  Dont we all wish for this, especially when we are hurting?

We stop, whether by choice or through circumstanceWe wait for our souls to catch up with our bodies - Eugene Peterson.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like to explore what counselling could look like for you.  I look forward to meeting you either in person at Bella Vista or on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW, and of course, via telehealth platforms.
