Phone Counselling

Phone Counselling

Individual phone counselling is still very much a useful tool for clients and counsellors to connect.  It allows for connection and counselling wherever you are across Australia.  The counselling process is the same as In Person counselling so far as it’s a tailored collaboration between the counsellor and the client to suit the client’s needs.  Some clients choose to do a combination of Individual In Person, Online and Phone Counselling.  As with online counselling, it means that people have a broader choice of professionals to choose from across the country, and you are not limited to choosing a counsellor that is within the travelling space of where you live or work.  Being able to work with a counsellor via phone can be a great idea if you….

  • find it difficult to leave home for various reasons.  Eg, parent, injury, ill health
  • are in hospital, a care facility such as respite
  • find it difficult to leave your place of work
  • don’t have the time to schedule travel into your busy day or evening
  • are travelling interstate but would still like to continue with your counselling
  • are living in another part of Australia that isn’t near Sydney or the Central Coast of NSW
  • If you would just like a 30 minute session rather than a full hour

How It Works

  • You simply need to contact me to schedule an appointment
  • I will send you the intake paperwork for completion and payment details
  • You will need a mobile or landline phone with a steady connection and reception.
  • I will send you confirmation of your booking and call you at the time of your session.

Please reach out to me today if you would like to explore Phone Counselling as an option.

Limits and Solutions

Limits and Challenges with Phone Counselling:

  • Device and/or network/service provider failure or interruption
  • No guarantee of total confidentiality due to your location or phone line security
  • A higher level of care may be required due to your circumstances which could mean that phone counselling may not be enough on it’s own, therefore there may be the need for In Person care to be integrated, and possibly the additional need for other practitioners such as your GP, psychiatrist, psychologist and/or social worker.

Some Measures Taken to Ensure the Highest Level of Care (Individual and Group):

  • If my device, network service or reception for Telehealth fails, we will set another agreed upon method of continuing the session
  • Use of private communication as well as transmitting from a private, locked room
  • Provision of additional or more appropriate referrals for your care

Your care and confidentiality are of my utmost concern - please reach out and contact me to discuss your questions and concerns.

I think a good place for us to start is by taking a brief look at what professional counselling is, what is a professional counsellor in Australia, and what kinds of issues professional counselling can help with.
